Well, I accidentally went shopping. It happens. It was good :) Above is a beautiful new jacket I found in Debenhams. I bought it, gulp. The picture above doesn't do it much justice because it's a much more vibrant mustard yellow. I'm in love with it and it fits like a dream, so why not hey? I plan to change the buttons because the ones it come with are too heavy and they droop - I'm having none of that. I found some nice big plain matte black ones to replace the droopy ones. Yes!

I now own my first (not my last, that's for certain) piece of vintage reclaimed jewellery by Liam. I'm sorry the picture's a bit blurry, very low light levels (autumns nearly here). I'll try and update it in the morning if the sun comes out.

And lastly I found the perfect pair of golden earrings by pebble (Jayne). Again poor photo by me, sorry sorry sorry, but I'm sure you get the idea. I love her work. I bought a custom necklace from her last year and it's one of my favourite possessions. If you're local you can find her work in the Nottingham Craft Mafia shop - 'Get Made!' too.

Right enough of my yellow themed post. No more shopping for me... hm... I plan to spend the evening curled up with my book or watching Humphrey Bogart films. You can't get much better than that ;)

First of all here's a new print I'm excited to share with you. Called "Abstract Kitty". It measures 8 inches by 10 and is in the shops, now! I've been doing a lot of abstract squiggling recently. There's something incredibly satisfying about doing some blob like doodles, scanning them instantly and colouring away. The crazy coloured background above was a very happy accident. I've fallen in love with a handful of colours and seem to be using them in everything I do - this picture incorporates the lot. The cat's based on Trent, I couldn't resist. I'm cat mad at the minute. I want a cat. I want Trent but I don't think he'd like living with me. He thinks I'm his long lost cat sibling and spends most of his time practicing 'attack' moves on my ankles. (I use the word 'practicing' but really, he's got it down to a T)

We went for pizza in the evening and came home with pot plants too. Happy bonus I must say. I'm still trying to think of a good name for it (the plant not the pizza) Any Suggestions?

Another 2 LARGE prints have made their way into the shops so please go ahead and take a peek. It's been so good getting up and getting on with things in the morning. It's also been very puzzling. For the past 2 days I've woken up under the false impression it's alarmingly late in the day, I've even glanced at my watch and through my blurry eyes I've translated 8's into 10's and 12's into 58's. Yes, it's been very confusing, but on the plus side that guilty 'sleeping in' feeling has catapulted me out of the bedroom and into work mode. 3 new prints later and some new treats on their way (I can mention them now because they're being made as we speak, horray!) I feel like these morning's have been 3 steps closer to beating the rut. Go Team!

Today I have one more day of work before I have 3 days off again. Aside from getting addicted to lost (finally) I've been a heavy reader and I'm considering beginning the woolen Christmas prezzies. I know I know it's a long way off, even halloween prep seems excessive, but socks won't make themselves... and it will feel good to know you're on top of things when the time comes, right?

Now, shall I risk having a super speedy shower? or wait for the postman that might never be?

Where We Live

New LARGE print now up for grabs in both shops (etsy and folksy)! Yesterday I had an ace start to the day making it. 4 episodes of lost, 3 mugs of tea, 2 ham sandwiches and a chocolate biscuit = "Where We Live".

I'm currently faffing with new pieces of work as I type so this will be a short post for now. I'm really excited to say that there is going to be another large print on it's way very very soon and some other treasures, which I won't go into details about because they're still being cooked up by the little grey cells.

I have some new things to share with you. Above is a new print which is now up for grabs in the shops. It's titled "At home on the sea" and measures 8" x 10". Printed on archival watercolour paper. Will be sent out signed and sealed snuggly in a hardback envelope, accompanied with one of my 'fresh off the press' moo cards. I love Moo.

Down below we have some serious card making sessions on the go. I've been supplying cards to a couple of shops recently and after a lot of pondering I have decided it is nearly time to share these treats with you online. Today some treasures I've been eagerly waiting have arrived. Above is the beautiful book illustrated by Sun Young Yoo. The Red Shoes - a Hans Christian Andersen classic. I stumbled across it on the blog Book by it's cover, which is a wonderful site for opening your eyes to some of the most beautiful books out there. I didn't think it was possible but it's even more stunning in the flesh. I'm very fond of collecting beautifully illustrated children's books, so much so I need more book shelves.... sigh.

Below is another gem of a purchase. I mentioned a while back about being obsessing over fonts and writing at the moment. This book should do the trick. There's something really theraputic looking through giant books that delve into artist sketchbooks and playing with text. I can look at them for hours... and I plan to take this to work and do just that :) - Talking about work, after my shift I plan on going to see an 11pm screening of Moon by Mr Zow-I mean Duncan Jones. Robots, spaceships, THE MOON, Klint Mansel, trouble, coughsamrockwellcough - Yus!

I've been playing around with photoshop this morning accompanied by a mug of tea and the sound of rain pelting against the windows. Never been more thankful for the rain, it's been so hot these past few days and I started to resemble a dribbly sticky mess of a human at work. Here's a hoping we have a break from the sun! (just a mini break mind you)

Anyway, I thought I would show you what I was getting up to. Above is the result of a random doodle session I had yesterday when I was wrapped around a fan frantically trying to cool down. It's just a little something, but most things need to start off small. I'm in the process of trying to come up with a decent selection of cards for the near future (I hope). Apart from writing 'happee Birfdeee" in the same font every 5 minutes overall I'm not making much progress. Fingers crossed folks!

I might go out and treat myself to a ginger bread latte... mmmmmm

I wanted to share with you a treasure I came across last week (possibly the week before). A beautiful old printing block I found in a vintage shop in town. The only draw back to this find was I had previously been to the library and filled my bag with about 4 (huge) books, oops. So for the rest of the day I was dragging my bags around Nottingham. (luckily the printing block is quite small) My shoulders still hate me.

Make Tea Not War!

The tea party was this afternoon and we all had such a nice time. Thanks to all who showed up and ate cake and slurpped their tea with us. Hello folks.

I've been spring/summer cleaning my desk and it turns out I have so many prints with slight blotches or printer mistakes. Some of them are testers and practically perfect except on different paper. Anyway, I've been asking if people want to give them new homes for free on twitter :) It breaks my heart to just throw them out when they could be enjoyed.

ps/ I won't send anything out that's got giant printer destruction so don't panic, you won't receive a chewed up inky piece of paper ;)

The picture of lunch is mainly for my benefit, to remind me that food doesn't have to be potato based or bread based or at work. Cheese is something I can't say no to though, so cheese based is always welcome. Anyway, you know it's summer when the salads come tumbling off the shelves into your shopping basket. Before you know it your chomping away like a buck-tooth rabbit savoring every crunch. Apart from salads, sunshine (and the 'overheating' feeling that accompanies the sunshine) weddings are also a big give away that summer's on the doorstep. These last few days we drove up to the Lake District to see my friend Charlie on her wedding day. Below is a snap of the happy duo. It was a perfect break. Not only was the wedding beautiful, seeing friends was another treat and being surrounded by such beautiful sights was breathtaking.

New Print Set

A new print set is about to grace the shops. After the last blog post I managed to pull out the pencil case and get some squiggly lines down on the paper. I'm quite pleased with the results, which happen to be incredibly frilly and girly. (two traits I'd never associate with the Amy B I grew up with) :) Anyway, apologies for the fuzzy little pictures. I tried to capture as much of the detail as possible. Since I'm obsessing over such pale colourschemes at the moment, it makes it quite tricky in the photo documentation department.

The prints are roughly 4.5inches x 5.8 inches. (Same size as mini prints I stock). Printed on archival Watercolour paper. Room around the edges for framing. Will come signed and shipped in a hardback envelope to ensure no bends or bumps. Colours and detail are both bold and crisp.

Below is an example of the detail which is lost a bit in the fuzzy little pictures I took. And right down the bottom are individual snap shots of the prints themselves :) Very summery, very fresh, very flowery... oh it's good to be back :)

Wow it feels like ages since I wrote something for this blog... and noticing the date of my last post it has been a while.

I'll be honest and say I've been stuck in a bit of a drawing rut as of late. Sometimes you wake up and find that drawing deliberate lines are near impossible. Straight ones mainly, and for me it just makes the whole process of doodling very very very stressful and seem like a waste of time and resourses. I went back and read the advice of many talented and creative folk mentioned in PikaLand's 1st issue of 'Good to know', which tackles ruts, getting in them and getting out of them. It's nice to know so many others go through these phases. Reading some of the solutions made the whole process feel far less alienating and lonely (Massive thank you to Pikaland Amy and her publication). I vaguely remember adding my own piece of advice to the zine but you know what they say about never liking the taste of your own medicine :)

Today has been the first beautful day in the past few weeks. We've had belated April showers, which resulted in soggy ankles and sniffles all round. I'm slightly jealous of everyone who is sat outside enjoying it (I'm at work as, I type, in a dark room with no windows to the outside). The silver lining to that cloud is that I've finally pulled the pencil case out of my bag and I am doing some non frustrating doodles for the first time in 3 weeks (maybe longer) Woop! So I don't feel too bad about being indoors ;)

While I've been avoiding the sketch pad I gave my self plenty of time to start and finish some small knitting projects. This years knitting aim was to learn how to make socks and I'm pleased to inform the task is complete! It doesn't make much sense prepping this far in advance for the winter seeing as summer has only just about landed but there is something really nice about sitting outside and making things.

Over the next few weeks the shop will have another little spring clean. Hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) I'll have something new to share. If not I'll just bombard you with all of the little retail therapy purchases which have occurred this last month. Although saying that I hope to do both!

Apologies for the low atmostphere in this post, I've needed to push myself out of this rut by having a good old chat/ramble.

The Big Clean

A productive day off. Seriously spring cleaned room. Nothing quite like crawling into a freshly made bed and that is what I will do when the day ends :) (warning these photos in no way show you how clean and spacious my room now is... on a bright and sunny day I'll try and take some more accurate snap shots)

I've had a bit of a manic wool purchasing start to the year. I'm too much of a chicken to actually make something for fear it won't be any good... and I definitely don't need any more scarves. For now the wool will be treasured in it's original state until something important and warm is required. This is England after all ;) summer or no summer...

Happy Year One

Well I think the official date was yesterday but 'Happy Year Number One' to the blog! Quite scary to think I've been rambling at people for a year now on this thing. I hope you don't mind :) I plan to continue.

I had a lovely day off yesterday. We took the bus to IKEA and had a mini adventure with lunch there. I had Fish and Chips and Peas because I love Fish and Chips and Peas at IKEA (I can't explain that sorry). Anyway the bus ride ensured that we couldn't buy large, huge, massive, gigantic pieces of unnecessary furniture which was a relief. I did accidently spent a chunk of money on a tin jug (I wasn't expecting that chunk of cash to be quite as big as it was but it doesn't mean I don't love it any less), what can I say? They're very good at enticing desplays.
After the IKEA adventure we went to go see Monsters vs Aliens 3D. (I like to go to the cinema on my day off from the cinema... logic? lost that years ago apparently). It was fun and we were hyper on pick-a-mixes. The BEST way to spend a day off. After the sugar rush and expensive 3D specs I went to the Jam Cafe to see some music and socialise (Not very good at the last bit, especially when they have a tv on mute playing I heart Huckabees, distracted constantly I was)

All in all I had an incredibley unproductive picture making day (I did nadda). I was thouroughly greedy and ate too much sugar (I did feel sick yes but it was worth it) and now I am sat on my sofa eating not very fresh strawberries. All is well.

Above is a picture from a month or 2 ago. The afternoon light was beautiful and it was the first hint that spring was on it's rocking horse and tottering into town. I felt the need to share.

Right down the bottom limited edition print of 2009 NUMBER 1! "Bird song" Measures roughly A4 and is an edition of 10. (very tiny!) You know the drill, when the colour scheme's gone, it's gone! So be quick :) I hope you enjoy looking at the new prints as much as I've enjoyed making them.

A body in the library

Hello! Well this is where I've spent a good few hours this week (pre-work) sat listening to Agatha Christie dramatizations and knitting. It's been such beautiful weather I've found myself traipsing around the city centre eager to be out of the house. I was glad to find a comfy seat in Bromley house library (the secret library, as I like to call it) with their garden. Considering it's located slap bang in the middle of town it's such a peaceful place to be.

Anyway I thought I would take some terrible pictures and share them with you :) (sorry for the poor photographic skills - I was being sneaky) Right at the top is a snap shot of some dusty and well read fiction. The next picture (red chair) is the chair and secluded corner I've been settling in for those few hours. Below is a snap of some of my favourites (Sherlock on the right, Marple and Poirot on the wall in front as well as some Bronte's).

Knitting, breathing

I've had a couple of days off to recover from what felt like an insanely busy print making week and I've also started a new knitting project. The thirst for knitting proved unbearable so I figured what the heck, do it. Unfortunately, for example, food shopping when hungry is a bad idea because you come home with a hefty receipt and a mountain of edibles, the same goes for wool shopping. I spent 21 pounds (I know!) on wool. It's beautiful wool. So that justifies it for me... plus it's giving me something new to do.

The prints have just been flowing, which in itself is difficult for me because I'm so insanely indecisive. I would just throw everything out there if I could but I know deep down I would regret some things.

Don't worry the limited edition prints I spoke of before are still on their way... I'm just taking a breather :)

Also, just noticed the blog celebrates it's first birthday next month which is quite a nice feeling. I may do something in tribute.

Well today is officially the Spring equinox. First word being SPRING Hurrah! What better way to celebrate than with a LARGE bird themed print!

Almost in the shops. Meet the family! Lots of lovely new bird themed designs. Page measures 13" x 19" and is printed on archival watercolour paper. There's room around the edge for framing. Print costs 24 GBP and 36 USD and will come signed and in a tube.

Hello, I'm having an exhausting day at work so in between the yucky bits I'm browsing Ikea's online catalogue (because that's just the sort of thing you do in this situation). It feels like ages since I've had a trip to Ikea and as I can see the place as many new lovely treasures. Unfortunately I've done my spending this month so all I can do is admire. I'm happy with that for now. I have no need for a mirror or a candle in a nice cup. The wrapping paper always comes in handy but isn't in high demand at the minute. The blanket I really want BUT it's not sensible for me to own a light coloured anything :( One cup of tea later and it would be ruined... sigh... If only tea was like those magic markers for fabric that vanishes after a few minutes or so... hey now theres an idea...

Looking back at the few items I've been admiring today has made me realise how little my house 'style' makes sense... does that make sense? Everything's so mishmash. I like it, but I have to admit I'm starting to wonder if it will ever even out. It's either plain or insane... or somewhere in the middle...

I've got some plans for some limited edition prints coming up. I won't say more on the subject because I don't want to disappoint ;) But it has been on the cards for a while and I'm looking forward to sharing what I have in mind.

Above is another new mini print available in both shops. It's called 'Dear You, Sing me a song".
I thought I'd spend a tiny, weeny bit of time explaining what the Dear You prints are all about, since 2 days ago I didn't realise the collection would grown so quickly.

It started with the frame and it reminded me of old photographs of loved ones. The kind you associate with Victorian and Edwardian family heirlooms sitting on cluttered mantle pieces. It made me think about writing letters to these people in the pictures. Sometimes you find it easy to write them but never get round to sending them. I myself am great and writing replies to letters but terrible at posting them. This is where the titles came about. "Dear you" is how they all begin and you can imagine an endless collection of unfinished and unsent letters, each with their own picture. A different letter for a different person. Or a different picture for a different subject to write about.

I don't want to go into too much detail because it's up to you what you make of the sentiment for each piece. But I hope that gives a little insight into the random project that's sprung up so suddenly.

I've had a bit of an epic day today. I've got 5 new prints in the shops. I'm really obsessing over the floral backgrounds and the gothic frames at the minute (Can you tell?). The above 2 are larger prints and measure 8 inches by 10. The bottom 3 are mini prints and measure around 4.5 inches by 5.8. I'll keep this post short as you can imagine all I've done is stare at a screen aaaaallll day. Let me know what you think :)

And The Wind Blows

Hello there. I decided to have a little bit of a break from pictures and words and so forth and so on. It's been a looooong few weeks and I'm so looking forward to my real (not fake) day off tomorrow... sigh. I've got a new picture up for grabs in the shops. It's called "And the wind blows" I'm obviously still obsessing over autumn and foxes and the colour orange... It's pretty apparent now if you look through all of my most recent items posted on etsy.

Anyway! The print measures 8"x 10" and is in both shops with price tags and stuff and things... go see.

Apart from excessive amounts of reading and attemping to relax while at work I've been kittysitting for my mum. This (below) is Trent aka Demon, killer, monster, kitty kitty. He likes to kill things and show people. Some call this a sign of affection, I just say 'yuck'. The poor little guy had to stay in doors because our neighbourhoods filled with cats and he's a bully. So we figured making the neighbours and their pets angry wasn't a good thing to do. It turns out he's quite an affectionate little thing. He sat and watched loads of TV with us. I made sure I had some day shifts so I could spend some time with him in the evenings. It was altogether quite fun. He did however find a stray bag of Catnip (don't ask) tucked in the back of the drawer and covered the kitchen with it. He had a great time!

Going back to the books, I successfully purchased 3 wonderful books from Waterstones in their permanent 3 for 2 deal. It's very rare that you come out with 3 treasures (It's also VERY rare I fall for the offer). Usually you read half of 1 and use the rest as doorstops... I have a pile under my broken bed holding it up. The three I got though, which I highly recommend, were "Embers" by Sandor Marai, "December" by Elizabeth Winthrop and "The Gargoyle" by Andrew Davidson. (This one was the creme de la creme)
I'm still thirsty for fiction so I went out and bought another 3 books. I've read one and it was quite funny. "Up a tree at night with a hedgehog" by Paul Robert Smith. And I'm in the process of reading another which I'm really liking... I'll keep you posted... Enough of my rambling. I'm off to make some lunch, read some book and go to work.... again

The Letter Thief

We finally got round to getting a new DVD player after the old one died a month or 2 ago and I'm about to watch Brief Encounter for the first time before I go to work.

Coraline - Curious Witch Toe

I know this is way off the mark and I don't go about ranting and raving about trailers and films... ok I do, but not usually via the blog. Today is a good enough day to change that. It is Friday 13th after all and funnier things have happened.

ANYWAY, went to the movies to see Bolt 3D which was amazing (I have a headache today though and I think it's from the glasses but it was worth it) I saw the trailer for Coraline, a Neil Gaiman story. AND I'M WELL EXCITED. It looks so fantastic and the site itself is full of treats. You can sew buttons onto your face you can design a flower (see above). My flower was going to be called 'Curious Witch Toe' but I couldn't fit the word 'curious' in... so it's just 'Witch Toe'.

Enough of my film ramblings, have a lovely Friday and a lovely 13th too.

From March 7th - 31st My work will be featured as part of this wonderful show curated by the Headquarters Gallerie + Boutique. Other artists expected to be showing include (and I'm really excited about these) Caitlin Shearer, Ashley G and fellow fox fanatic Kristiana Parn. There are many more to come and I'll fill you in on the details as soon as I get them. I'm sad I'll miss the party and not get to go to the show but I'm glad to be part of it. Exciting! Now I have to write a blurb about what I do... hm...

Portrait of a Fox

New print now in the shops. It's called 'Portrait of a Fox' (no surprise there) and measures 8"x 10". I discovered a bunch of 'frame' and 'boarder' drawings I did a while back so I decided to play about with them and see what crops up. Ta daaa! I've got some more treats too come. Alas they are kind of Valentiney but I think they have potential for the other 364 days too.

Anyway, it's definitely bed time!

Print alterations

Just a quick note while I'm working. I'm changing the page dimensions for a lot of the prints. Any of the prints that were originally 8"x 8" will now be on a page measuring 7"x 9". Panic not the pictures haven't gotten smaller. I was just worried about people not being able to find frames for such a picky shaped print. The new page evens out the space around the edge so there's room for a mat or just to pop straight into a frame if so desired. It does mean it's going into action now meaning any prints purchased within the last 24 hours will now be subject to change and I will individually contact whoever you are :)

You may remember the lovely Winter portraits badge set I have up for sale in the shop, well I've just made it even lovelier. I've added 5 new badge designs to the pack so now you get a grand total of 9 lovely badges. I've appropriately labels it 'Nine Badges in a Bag'. I've also got some lovely new maroon drawstring bags so they look nice and neat and colourful. Perfect treat for all. They are now priced at $10 on etsy and £6 on Folksy.

The snow's on its way out which is sad. But It's still pretty damn slippery out there. It made a nice change though and I did my best to document some of it as I walked to work.

On the work front I'm excited to say some of my prints have been picked to be part of a 'print' show in Canada this coming March so right now I'm busy packaging them all up. I'll have more info for you tomorrow or as soon as I've sent the prints off in the post. Exciting stuff!

I've also got some new pocketable treats arriving any day now. Can't wait to share...

Yesterday it began as tiny little flecks of ice floating about. We figured it wouldn't settle because it never settles... but this is what I woke up to find. Yes! On the way home from work last night I did have lots of fun slipping and sliding about. I say lots of fun, at the time I was frightened for my ankles. It's one of those things that you can look back and and think "Ooo that was fun!" lies lies lies

Anyway time to sit back and enjoy... then post office... then work...

A glimpse of the future

Not quite finished but on its way. I cunningly (stupidly) left my computer at work the other day to save carrying it around at a gig. It meant I woke up the next morning completely clueless on what to do. No printing, no emails, no blog, no writing.... gah... plus the dvd player in the living room has decided recently to go kaploooie. I was lost... but then I decided to move all of the bags of fabric I own into the living room and start creating. I nearly gave up but I persevered and it all started to come together. Now I'm so excited about finishing this project and starting a new one!

She's loosly based on the patterns The Black Apple uses for her beautiful dolls. I hope she doesn't mind but I didn't know where to start because this is the first doll I've made in probably 15 years... gulp. It's all trial and error... but it's fun. I'm going to have to get the sewing machine out for the next one though. Save some time and my spine.

There are still a few valentines cards left so grab them quick before they go and also to make sure they arrive in time for you to send them.

Hello there. I have returned from my London shaped adventure and I'm back sat at my drawing table. I have a new print in the shops and it's called "The Girl and The Fox". I hope you like it. It measures 8" by 10" it's up for grabs in both etsy and folksy. So take a peek! I'm quite chuffed with it if I do say so myself.

I've started working on some new things but I won't say more because I don't want to ruin it. I know what I'm like and I need to keep my secrets otherwise it won't happen! So! Keep your ear to the ground and all that jazz and speak soon :)

Oh and of course I'm in love with a lovely new frock from topshop... unfortunately I think I might look a bit daft in it.... but hey that's why they have changing rooms ;)

MINI shop update!

I'm really chuffed to announce the Mini Prints are FINALLY in the shops! (folksy and etsy) There are some well loved and familiar faces with some lovely new colours. A nice fresh change. If you're after something small to get someone as a treat or part of a gift then these are perfect. They are half the size and half the price of the regular prints. Because I loved the colours I picked for the Stripey Cat (above) I decided to make it available in a larger size as well. Woop!

Some Treasures

This was one of my many (yes I am a bad bad bad person) Christmas presents for myself. I love it and I'm wearing it as I type. It's by PonyParade and there are 3 different designs. One with a fox and one with a monkey. I went for the bird because it seemed so classic. A really nice treat for yourself (and others of course)!

These were a spontaneous buy but worth every penny. They were really good value for money too and you can find them on etsy by ShareLiving. There are so many treasures in their shop and I can easily spend a good while browsing through everything. I bought them because I thought with some ribbon they would make beautiful decorations. Unfortunately I bought them after Christmas and we didn't have a tree last year. But now I have more of an insentive to get one this year ;) Horray. On saying all of that they aren't particularly festive so I will probably use them all year round. Lovely!

Group of sisters

Now that christmas as passed and all have received their gifts I can show you something I worked on for a friend of mine. She asked if I could try and make a portrait of her and her sisters in the same style of my portraits. Luckily enough 2 of the characters I already had resembled 2 of them (phew). I hear they were loved and everyone knew which sister was which (phew again) :) Anyway back to work. hope you're all well.

First of all... HAPPY NEW YEAR! Secondly... I'm back! Horray!
The holiday was needed. I feel much better but typically I'm glad to be back and getting on with what I enjoy. Everything's up and running again so if you ordered any prints while I was away they are processed and ready for posting (I will do that today). I've been trying to load pictures from my travels to show you a handful of the funny things I've seen but the blog doesn't want to know. So I will just have to try again another day. This is just a small note but I will return soon to tell you about some of the fun things I have in line for 2009 (gulp) so keeps you eyes peeled and your ears to the ground.

A new fox shaped feature. Is now in the shops. Since the last post the frost has vanished! And been replaced by that miserable dribbly rain. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

I got in the festive spirit yesterday and watched White Christmas at work on the biiiiig screen and it was wonderful. I also bombarded the audiences with the entire Sufjan Stevens Christmas boxset. Now that was perfect. If only it would snow... sigh... alas Nottinghamshire doesn't really know what snow is and what great demand it's in.

I have a crazy notion that I should bake something. Trouble is I can't bake, I'm not very good at following instructions and I haven't a clue what... Where this random thought has come from I can't tell you. But seeing as I finish work earlyish this evening maybe I should try. Or maybe I should just go and see another movie :)

BEAUTIFUL WINTER

A little twist to a familiar picture. I thought I'd make a bit of a set from this picture. So to keep autumn company I give you winter :) They are in both shops (etsy + folksy) so go grab yourself a treat. We're getting lots of frost this year which makes a nice change from last year which was just grey and damp. I'm enjoying the new and improved (if slightly dangerous) sparkly path to work. Spices things up a little.

Well Saturday was interesting, going back to Derby and all. Was nice to do something with my weekend but I can honestly say I need to work on the whole "presentation" aspect of my work. :) hehe..... anyway!

Above are some new prints that are in the shop. At the minute you can grab your "Tea For One" prints on both etsy and Folksy. There will be "Tea For Two" coming as soon as I finish resizing images and work out a system to get them all online. There are looooaaads of different coloured cups. I've been working on these for a good 2 months. So I hope you like them. I thought I'd start small and let the collection grow. Of course if there are any specific colour themes you are after just drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.

Pay day's been and gone and I think today is as good as any to go start that thing called christmas shopping... I might even be naughty and have a cup of hot spicey wine at the market.

I'm waiting for the sunlight to come back :) I've got a stall planned for the "This is Bazaar" event happening on Saturday the 29th at the Quad in Derby. That should be quite fun. I'm still in the middle of making everything. Printing out the new prints. At least the Christmas cards are done.

You will be able to get this print at this price for a limited time but once it's sold the print will return to normal and next month another picture will become the 10 dollar print. All at random. One of my favourite children's illustrator/author, Oliver Jeffers, has just bought out a new book. AND WHEN I GET PAID IT'S MINE! Blimmin' amazing. He has also written : The Way Back Home, How To Catch A Star, The Incredible Book Eating Boy and Lost And Found.

There will be a shop update tomorrow I hope. This weeks so damn busy. I have to get up tomorrow morning to go get stabbed by a doctor with nasty germs. Not going to be my highlight of the day I'm sure...

I made him this morning. It's supposed to be a cat like thing but it's already been called a tooth... sigh... I'm off to the market in a bit to buy some proper fabric and CAT making equipment before I start work. Maybe I'll come up with some ideas there... maybe they won't be tooth shaped either :) Maybe I should avoid cream....

Oh and I also bought some new feet because OBVIOUSLY I needed some more... I'm not a shoe-shop-aholic :( I'm just fed up of having ugly shoes so I am buying nice ones...

We've done it! We've opened a shop :) It's located on St James's Street, Nottingham. Right next door to the Malt Cross. It's open on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays so get your shoes on and go shopping! As it's part of our Nottingham Craft Mafia it's about selecting the creme de la creme of our crafty city and showing you all the lovely things you can get your hands on... and just in time for Christmas too!

A house on Orkney

Well yes my mum just bought a house on the Orkney Isles. Very very cool indeed. So we went up to see it and me being a sport suggested we take the low carbon route and avoid planes... oh dear god it's a long way away.

When the first day of trains came we heard news of a huge storm rolling in off the Atlantic but the ferries seemed to be functioning fine. We arrived a little late in the evening at about 1am (after setting off at 7:50am!!!) and got a taxi to drive us round to the bed and breakfast where we slept like washed up logs. Another early (ish) start at 8:30 with a giant breakfast (perfecto) meant we had the rest of the day to explore the main island and get a bus over to Stromness to see the cottage. We got there only to find out that the ferries for the remaining of the weekend had been cancelled... gulp. We paniced a little then settled into the idea of just booking another night or 2 at the B and B back in Kirkwall. We went and found the solicitors, got the keys and headed to the cottage, which is wonderfull! It needs a lot of work but mum's giving herself a year or so to get the work done and make the place livable again just in time for retirement. We spent an hour measuring the place and working out what can go where etc. Then as we plodded back into "town" we had just enough time to catch the very last ferry of the weekend... so we went for it! After an incredibly bumpy ride we found ourselves back in Scottland in Thurso... only to discover no trains... damn...

So we found a hotel and checked the train times and just relaxed. 6am rise and shine! On train at 6.50 and then came the 2nd full day of transport :( 16 hours, 5 trains, 2 million cups of very expensive and not very nice coffee and 3 bars of chocolate which came with the glossy magazine of nonsense I bought. FINALLY at 10:28pm I walk through my door. By 10:33pm I'm washed, clean and in my pj's curled up on the sofa.

Lots of interest and lots of wondefull things to see. Alas I couldn't make it cos I was on route to the North. Check the website for any upcoming information.

It's here! The October Pikapackage is finally here! I've been quite excited about this. It's an amazing project promoting all the loveliness that is art, illustration and craftiness. Currently coveting.... sigh... you can't help but look when you're stuck in a dark room, starved of company. I have to admit though I can't imagine any of these items being flattering on me. That's the trouble with internet shopping and me... I just have rotten luck and no patience... but I've only just dicovered the wonders of Forever 21 and I can see me gazing, longingly, at their online catalogue for at least another 2 hours....

Cuttin' and Stickin'

Start the day with something different. After a useless nights sleep filled with unnecessarily traumatic (blown way out of proportion by the mind) nightmares about failed holidays, being told off and crap stuff like that... I woke up early and decided today was a day for cutting and sticking. I even did a tiny bit of painting. I feel much better... Maybe sewing is in question for later? Maybe not... I don't think I could handle another fight with my sewing machine... I have lots of blue fabric which I bought somewhere and I've been meaning to make a mahoosive whale. It was the first thing that sprang to mind...

I spent yesterday morning and early afternoon taking down the show. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when 4/5 coats of paint later the bright shapes I'd painted on the wall ceased to be. Phew!
On my way home I ground to a halt outside Schuh because I noticed they happened to have maroon converse on display in my size. Horray. I've been after a pair for a couple of years now and I think today of all days will be the day I can tick this shoe mission off my list. I found a library book under my bed... gulp... I'm in so much trouble... The more I think about it maybe that was what oozed all its negative vibes into my dreams. It was really shouting "Take me back!!" I will do that today... and the reward will be the cons :) and maybe I'll have a sweet nights sleep tonight. One can only hope...

I also accidentally inverted some of the winter portraits and I thought they looked pretty cool so I figured I'd show you... tee hee... very new wave/rave (I dunno new talk) warhol... hm. The colours are pretty special...

Ya heard right! Nottingham's own craft mafia site has now been launched and a link can be found here. It's a very exciting, great, amazing and fun thing to be part of and we will all aim to keep you folk in the loop about the inspiring, contemporary and beautiful works happening locally. The sites got some info on its main members at the moment so go take a look and see what's to come. If the Craft Mafia is new to you then it's worth taking a gander at their own site. I also recommend the Glasgow Craft Mafia site...

I got asked to do this months website banner and as you can see one of my lovely ladies is featured. Every month we will take turns and ask others to design a new banner so the website will be ever changing.

I found this gem in oxfam today on my way home from work and it inspired me to pull back the curtains and show you what I've been up to lately! The graphics are beautiful and the story is really cool. It's rare to come across something so lovely :) It's also got the appropriate Autumn theme... seeing as it's Autumn... and what I have to show you is also Autumn/ Winter themed...

Now for the main event. A great big shop update :) I'm happy to introduce you to 8 lovely new prints that will be up for grabs in the shop within the next couple of hours. It's all about wrapping up warm and layering up those woolies. Each print will come with it's own little blurb filling you in on some of their current fixations, secrets, favourite fruits etc.

Each print is priced at 20 Dollars which is around 10 English Pounds and is printed on archival watercolour paper. The colours and details are bold and crisp. The page measures around 7" x 9" and the image sits comfortably in the middle :) Get in touch if you have special frame requirements and need the paper to be different measurements. As long is the measurements are no bigger than A4 I can sort something out.

** Just a mini note. The prints you will receive will be on a page that measures 7 inches by 9 inches. The above photo is prints on off cuts of paper measuring 5 by 8 inches (didn't want such good bits of paper to go to waste). This means that the print you receive will be on a piece of paper ever so slightly bigger**
